Senior Installation: Sisterhood in Focus
Sisterhood in Focus is an installation that combines archival images with present-day photos I’ve taken to create a visual timeline of Alpha Chi Omega’s sisterhood at Stetson University. Through juxtaposition, the images reflect on the evolution of our chapter, inviting viewers to experience the emotional connections and growth we’ve shared over time. As I look back on my journey as a senior and former chapter president, this project gives me the opportunity to capture and share the memories that have shaped our sisterhood. It highlights both candid moments from intimate chapter events and portraits capturing collective experiences with our chosen family, celebrating our growth, connection, and sisterhood.
The installation process was rooted in storytelling through time. The layout visually guides the viewer through different stages of our chapter’s history to the current time. Each moment is displayed in acrylic frames and arranged in layered collages—intimate, personal, and nostalgic. This thoughtful arrangement invites viewers to move through the work as they would through a memory book, fostering a sense of connection across generations of sisterhood.
Sisterhood in Focus is currently on display at the Hand Art Center as part of the House of Echoes exhibition. This project was generously funded by the LaVallee Fund, whose support helped bring this vision to life. Through this installation, I hope to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Alpha Chi Omega at Stetson while honoring the bonds that continue to shape us.
